Found/Can't Keep A Dog?

What makes an American pit bull a "bulldog" and not a retriever, husky or sheepdog?

Character.

Almost all dogs are wonderful companions but some few breeds and individual dogs stand out. They stand out because they possess something the "common" dog or dog breed does not.

Character.

It is most often found in breeds forged by a fiery furnace of purpose-breeding, a place where "common" dogs (dogs with no purpose) fall by the way side. It is most often found in dogs who have great courage, great loyalty and great ability.

Character.

Some people recognize it - some don't.
And for this reason the American pit bull is not the dog for everyone;
nor will he appeal to those with no appreciation of character.

Want to see what I mean?

The following video shows two 16 week old pups seeing the moving jenni for the first time.

Their reaction is to grip and hold... calmly, no barking, just grim determination to hold their grip - the trait they have been bred for for thousands of years. Even as wee pups, they know their life's work.

When this character is coupled with a people loving attitude, you have what makes a pit bull the best of dogs.

The MOST important thing you can

EVER learn

about ANY dog breed is this:

* there are "generic" dogs in every breed - but that doesn't mean there is no breed type in correct specimens

* being truthful about the characteristics of a breed will never harm it
