DOG
WORLD
AUGUST 1950
Please note that W. M. Whitaker, who was instrumental
in the AKC recognition and early development of the "Staffordshire
terrier" was one of the most vocal and aggressive enemies of the
foundation stock of his dogs - the American pit bull. His theory that
those breeding American pit bulls paid "little attention to bloodlines"
is ludicrous. There have been no more carefully bred dogs in the past
200 years than gamebred American pit bulls. Strange indeed, that the
very UKC dogs which he badmouths are the same dogs his "well bred"
Am Staffs are directly bred from!
