As a young pup Burkhalter was far more interested in making cow eyes at everyone than in searching for drugs. Later, when he matured, his search drive developed fully, but he showed such promise for schutzhund sport I probably won't donate him for detection work. He is one of the sweetiest dogs you would ever find.

With the little girl he grew up with. Here he is 5 months old.

June, 2009: Burkhalter with his new owner, Suzanne Bunny of New York state. Suzanne is a competitive schutzhund handler, and was the perfect fit for this high drive dog. Best of all, she describes the relationship between Burk and her two year old son as a "lovefest". Best of luck to the two of you!
