I ran into a guy who had some dogs from Bert Sorrells. A guy who had tried dogs from Colby and Patrick, and had settled on Sorrells dogs. He bred the dogs only for himself, something I respect. He offered me a pup out of his great little bitch who was an unbelievable weight pull dog. I chose Dirk at two days of age. The litter was "cookie cutter" in appearance, but something made my hand go right to Dirk. Four weeks later I picked Dirk up. I have yet to meet a dog which matches this animal's work drive and gentle soundness with people. As far as I know, he is the first SchH III "game bred" dog, and he was trained with "pure positive" methods. From everything I have seen from the rest of his family, Dirk has inherited this line's strengths.
I might be biased, but I think he is a pretty useful dog. |

Dirk earned his French Ring Brevet title when he was young. He was trained with "pure postive" meaning no leash corrections. He earned his title with a 3rd place win over 8 dogs (German shepherds, and malinois).
I like Ring, but couldn't find a club I wanted to work with in this area, so, back to schutzhund. He earned his SchH I, on 4.7.06 with 97 in protection (High Score Protection in Trial).
He earned his SchH II on 6.4.06 under an SV judge from Germany and finished up his SchH III in 2007. He is now retired. |
